Think Ravensbourne College of Art, where Simon Barker first saw the Pistols, has or is relocating. Think the original site was sold off for housing.

I'm pretty sure that the cinema in Caerphilly is closed. Could be wrong though.

What happened to the Penzance venue?
Wobble says it was Falmouth in his book but I'm sure it was Penzance.

The Royal Ballroom in Whitby is still very much there, it's one of the venues they use during the Whitby goth weekends.

A friend over in Texas gave me an up-date on Randy's Rodeo..

"I live in San Antonio, Texas. Randy's Rodeo is not only still there, but it still has the original sign and marquis out in front. It's in an economically depressed area, so it's pretty much just rented out these days. There was a concert there about two years ago, and occasional private parties with bands.
It's actually changed owners and names multiple times over the years and always ended up being changed back, Somehow, the sign was never taken down.
In any event, it does still exist and looks very much the same as it did then, at least on the outside. I didnt go to that show there, but I saw the Ramones there in '79 and U2 playing to about 100 people on Valentines day of 1982."

further reading if your interested..

West Runton Pavillion, Norfolk - demolished mid 80's

Cromer Links Pavillion, Norfolk - burned down just a few months after the pistols played there

Cromer links Pavillion & West Runton isn't there anymore, but is still fondly remembered by those who remember it.. but found a bit of further info..
The Poster,

On stage at the links pavillion, Adam (of the ants), Tenpole Tudor, Max Splodge,

The Blue Plaque..

The site today had 12 houses built on it..

For further reading there's a book about the Cromer Links Paviliion & sister venue The Village inn, West Runton - which also had the pistols on during Dec 77..

'WHAT FLO SAID' is the first complete account of two legendary North Norfolk music venues - West Runton Pavilion and the Royal Links Pavilion, Cromer. Starting from the early days of ballroom and strict tempo dance bands, the book progresses through soul, disco and glam rock to heavy metal and punk, and includes:
Approximately 250 pages of text - stories, gig reviews, band line-ups, behind the scenes info etc
Full list of band dates for Cromer Links 1964-77 and West Runton Pavilion 1973-83
Forty-eight pages of photos (staff, local bands, top bands on stage etc)
Introduction by Raymond Froggatt, who played at both venues a total of 40 times
There are detailed reviews of gigs and background information about the stars including the Who, Blue Oyster Cult, Thin Lizzy, Chuck Berry, the Damned, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Heavy Metal Kids, Sex Pistols, Slade, Screaming Lord Sutch, Queen, AC/DC and many more!

There are contributions from almost 200 people, including former owners and some of the stars, with many memories and comments provided by local music fans.

Author Julie Fielder's father worked on the door at West Runton Pavilion during the 1970s, and before she was 13 Julie had watched several popular bands from the small private balcony at the back of the hall. She met some of the stars and developed a life-long love of music. This book is the result of 18 months of extensive research in an effort to uncover the true story about West Runton Pavilion and its neighbour the Royal Links Pavilion in Cromer. It is a factual, humorous, sometimes poignant record of two venues remembered passionately by many as an integral part of their youth. As one of Julie's contacts observed: 'It's about time somebody did it!'

'WHAT FLO SAID' is published in paperback by Edition Books and costs £15.99.

Good stuff Malcy Cool

First gig i ever went to was the UK Subs at West Runton Pavillion in 1981, i also saw The Damned , Anti Nowhere League, The Exploited, Discharge, Chron Gen, Vice Squad etc etc, all during '81/82

The book is a good read, especially if you have local interest.

West Runton Pavillion used to satnd right next door to the Village Inn pub which is still there, Cromer Links was about 3 miles or so further along the coast

Pistols played West Runton Pavillion 19th August '76
and Cromer Links Pavillion 24th December '77

The pics you posted of Adam Ant etc are from West Runton Pavillion, not Cromer Links Pavillion Smile

Here's some pics i sent Phil a few years ago of the pistols on stage at Cromer Links
http://www.philjens.plus.com/pistols/pistols/pistols_pictures_cromer1.htm

Unfortunatly i was 3 or 4 years too young to see the pistols Sad

There was always loads of police, standing at the back in the hall at West Runton, didnt think much of it at the time, thought it was the norm , as it was the only place i had seen bands at that point.

Looking back at it now it does seem strange, although it did used get quite rowdy in there Razz
